The Pacific Pearl is Now Open

The new 15-unit complex at 330 Broadway in South Bend, WA. opened its doors to tenant in June 2010. The Crisis Support Network has teamed up with the Joint Pacific County and Longview Housing Authorities to find potential residents for the property. The 15-unit complex began construction late last year and was completed in May 2010. The State Housing Trust Fund awarded the housing authority a $3 million grant to pay for design, materials and construction of the project. Pacific County provided $225,000 collected from document recording fees, and the state Department of Commerce provided an additional $80,000 Block grant for the project. Seattle-based non-profit Common Ground worked with the Housing Authority with the grant-writing and project management. Phoenix House is now Open
__________________________________________________

Phoenix House is a new $3.1 million complex that provides service enriched housing for 20 homeless men and women with substance abuse problems who have children and/or are pregnant. Phoenix House is a partnership between the Longview Housing Authority, who owns and manages the housing, and the Drug Abuse Prevention Center (DAPC) who provides services to Phoenix House residents. The complex was completed in April 2009.

Phoenix House will help single parents gain the stability in their lives needed to continue their recovery by providing not only a safe place to live with their children, but also opportunities to strengthen their social and life skills. Each parent will have their own bedroom and bathroom, which they will share with their child (ren). Four adult residents will share a common kitchen and living space so that they can share in their recover efforts.

More than a dozen funding sources have allowed LHA to build this project without incurring any debt. Ongoing operations are supported with resident rent, DAPC’s adopt a room program and state and regional foundation support.
