MINUTES TO THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE LONGVIEW HOUSING AUTHOURITYBOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
August 25, 2008
At the Longview Housing Authority Offices

Chair B. Jo Brewer called the regular August meeting of the Longview Housing Authority Board of Commissioners to order at 4:00 pm on August 25, 2008.

Review of Minutes for July 2008 Regular Meeting
Approve July 2008 Financial Statements and Vouchers as paid
Approve write-off of doubtful accounts in the amount of $1056.00

After changes were made, a motion was made by Commissioner Fischer and seconded by Commissioner Ostermiller to approve minutes for July 25, 2008. Motion Passed.

A motion was made by Commissioner Fischer and seconded by Commissioner Ostermiller to approve financial statements and vouchers paid. Motion Passed.

A motion was made by Commissioner Fischer and seconded by Commissioner Ostermiller to approve write off of doubtful accounts as modified. Motion passed.


Secretary Report
Congressman Brian Baird’s round table about housing on August 7 at the Cowlitz PUD went very well, compliments to Alex Kamaunu of FERC for bringing the housing crisis to a personal level for everyone.
Chair Brewer asked if LHA was submitting names of persons removed from our Section 8 program for non compliance to the national data source for all Housing Authorities to pull from.
Chairperson Brewer expressed her pleasure of the ground breaking ceremony for the Phoenix House.
Chairperson Brewer discussed the regional NAHRO meeting in Boise, and told of another conference that is scheduled soon.
Secretary Pegg discussed the University of Washington Community Builders Certificate program and a possible partnership with PNRC-NAHRO Secretary
Secretary Pegg spoke of Supportive Housing – PNRC partnership
.Cowlitz County Drug Court sends a Thank You to LHA for working with Landlords and getting them to rent to drug court participants
Work is beginning on the Phoenix House. Trees are being cut and land is being cleared to prepare for building.
Veterans Stand Down reminder for September 12, we still need supplies to hand out to the Veterans
Sheri Whittington will be having an open house for the USDA staff and community at Riverview and the Columbia View on Tuesday, August 26, 2008. There will be an awards ceremony and ribbon cutting at both places.

Business
BOARD DISCUSSION: LHA/FERC joint workshop: The joint Workshop is set for October 1 from 3pm to 7 pm at the US Bank Building on Hudson. Lynn Davison of Common Ground will be facilitating the meeting.
BOARD DISCUSSION: Dan Freedman gave an update on Development Projects.
Business
BOARD DISCUSSION/ACTION: Approval of Resolution 08-06 FY2009 Budget
Motion was made by Commissioner Fischer, seconded by Commissioner Kosloski to approve resolution 08-06 FY2009. Motion Passed.
BOARD ACTION: Approval of new job descriptions/positions.
Motion made by Commissioner Fischer, seconded by Commissioner Kosloski to approve new job descriptions/positions. Motion Passed.
BOARD ACTION: Approval of new salary levels for SHARE Rehab coordinator and Homeownership coordinator.
Motion was made by Commissioner Ostermiller, seconded by Commissioner Fischer to approve the new salary levels as presented. Motion Passed.

There being no further business to discuss, Chairperson Brewer adjourned the regular board meeting.
