Vet Works
Housing Services > Veterans
Vet Works is an award winning employment program of Longview Housing Authority (LHA) designed to provide employment opportunities and services to veterans living in Southwest Washington. Vet Works services include temporary employment opportunities, job skills and job search training, and employment referral assistance As a temp employment agency for veterans, Vet Works is providing employment opportunities for homeless veterans participating in Longview Housing Authority’s Veteran TBRA transitional housing program. The Veteran TBRA program houses 20 veterans in Cowlitz County, and currently, all Vet Works employees also participate in the Portland VA’s Veterans Industries program. This enables veterans to receive additional employment resources while gaining employment through Vet Works.
In order to better serve the pressing employment needs of veterans, Vet Works recently opened a Veteran Employment Service Center. Vet Works is currently working with local unemployed veterans giving them personalized hands-on assistance with employment training, resumes, interview techniques and other services that are not readily available to these veterans in Cowlitz County. For those who gain employment, Vet Works provides ongoing contact with employers to ensure job retention and long term success.
